It’s where it all really comes together, and it formulates into
objects which you could call design, you could call art
(Ross Lovegrove)

A human, nature, science, fantasy, beauty – are so different realms, or just significant parts of the whole. They say, the water seems to be so transparent – like glass. But is it possible to turn glass into the water? We have so many questions; we turn our questions into the answers keeping a free space for imagination only. So, strange things appear – for example, it is an unexplained dialogue between the nature and complicated technologies which could be described only mathematically. It is about a unique space in which beauty and mechanics converge, where aesthetics and science coexist, – “you could call it design, you could call it art”.

LiquidKristal installation by Lasvit was created in collaboration with Ross Lovegrove. It is about an exceptional synthesis of shape and material, fusion of design and architecture, revealed in a digital language and pure beauty of nature. LiquidKristal composition was created of the mobile glass panels which differ by changing surfaces similar to fluid, amorphous organic forms found in nature. Due to an innovative process it was possible to create transparent crystal panels with a unique undulating relief which forms are dynamic. So, the enormous monotony which is typical for large glass surfaces – was transformed into a futuristic kaleidoscope marked with a hypnotic play or organically flowing natural patterns. Glass segments of LiquidKristal installation differ by various level of opacity, and the sections can be highlighted. It is about a dynamic composition marked with a special sense of rhythm – when one can see a unique visualization: glass turns into “a blurry play of colour and light”, revealing an abstract essence of nature. Such an effect was possible due to the most advanced technologies by Lasvit. This process was defined by designer as “high precision heat transfer”. So, a clear glass surface reveals a new aesthetics – for example, it is about the beauty of optical effects seen in the water.

LiquidKristal installation by Lasvit and Ross Lovegrove – it is not a visual performance only. This project becomes a new type of an architectural product symbolizing Lasvit’s “bridge to the world of architecture”, or revealing an unprecedented synthesis of design and architecture. LiquidKristal panels are useful as a crystal partition or screen, and as the insulated glass units for exterior facades, or for divisions in public places (for example, halls, boutiques, pavilions and others). In other words, some large place can be transformed into a unique and dynamic space marked with an extraordinary aesthetics of natural impression. We can talk about mathematically described design, but at the same time – we can see a wonderful organically flowing pattern that transforms any spatial structure into an optical illusion which has no physical borders and is unlimited in perception. “When you see people just walk past – it’s the people’s movement which will give the animation to the material. Static object, dynamic people – creates dynamic object” – Ross Lovegrove.
